Ella Fitzgerald is one of America´s most famous jazz singers. She was born in Virginia, USA on April 25th, 1917. Her father died when she was very young. Ella liked singing and took part in talent competitions. In 1936, at the age of 19 she recorded her first song, Love and Kisses. Two years later her song A Tisket - A Tasket went to number one in charts and sold one million copies. From then on she continued to write great songs and she received awards from two American presidents. On June 15th, 1996, Ella Fitzgerald died in her home in Beverly Hills, U.S.A.
